Galaxy-S5-Zoom-1Hot on the heels on the Samsung Galaxy S5 are two new S5 smartphones from Korean mobile phone giants Samsung. The original S5 was unveiled in February this year and we’re expecting Samsung to launch the Galaxy S5 Mini and Galaxy S5 Zoom very soon. There’s been an increasing amount of speculation about what specifications will feature in the two new handsets – here are the rumours so far.

It looks like Samsung will be unveiling the S5 Zoom later this month as invitations have just been sent out for an event on the 29th April which will be held in Singapore. Like the invitations to the S5 event, there are a fair few clues which allude to the next launch being a dedicated event for the S5 Zoom. Also it follows a similar pattern to last year when the Galaxy S4 Zoom was released a couple of months after the Galaxy S4.

One of the main features of the S5 Zoom is of course going to be the camera, although apparently it will be less camera-centric than the S4 Zoom was. It’s anticipated that the S5 Zoom will come with a 4.8-inch display – which is a shade smaller than the S5 – and a resolution of 720p in HD. The S5 Zoom is rumoured to boast a 20.2-megapixel camera on the rear and a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front. The impressive sounding rear camera is also likely to have a 10x optical zoom, optical image stabilisation and a Xenon flash. The camera software is expected to be upgraded with some new features.

The Galaxy S5 Mini could be with us in June this year and it will be the third Mini phone in the Galaxy series of smartphones which started with the S3 Mini. There are rumours that the S5 Mini will feature a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display which is 0.2-inches bigger than the S4 Mini and therefore the resolution will also be upped at 1280 x 720. The S5 Mini is also expected to offer the same water and dust resistant properties (IP67 certified) as the original S5.

The S5 Mini will come with the most recent Android KitKat 4.4 operating system and will have a quad-core Snapdragon 2.3GHz processor and 1.5GB of RAM. It’s thought that in terms of looks, the S5 Mini will be a smaller design of the Galaxy S5 and that it will offer an 8-megapixel rear facing camera and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. The S5 Mini is likely to include a 2100mAh battery and 16GB of expandable on-board storage.
