The S3 Mini has a 4-inch screen (the same as the iPhone 5) compared to the 4.8-inch screen of the Samsung Galaxy S3. Both the S3 Mini and the S3 have the same Super AMOLED screen with superb colour and clarity – the S3 Mini has a resolution of 223ppi with its 480 x 800 screen. Size-wise, the S3 Mini measures 122mm high by 63mm wide by 9.9mm deep, weighs in at 120 grams and sports a curved and minimal, ergonomic design.
Software -wise, the S3 Mini runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1 which comes with Google Search and Google Now. Some of the great built-in features of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini include Pop-up Play, which lets you send texts whilst you’re watching a video, Direct Call ,where you can call someone in the middle of a text simply by putting the phone to your ear, and Smart Alert, where the S3 Mini will alert you to any new calls and messages which have come in since you put your phone down. The S3 Mini handset also features S Voice – Samsung’s popular voice recognition software. S Voice allows you to unlock your phone by talking to your handset as well as instruct it to play your music, adjust the volume, organise your diary, navigate to wherever you are going and even take photos.
The S3 Mini comes with a choice of 8 or 16GB of internal memory which is increasable up to 32GB with a microSD card and 1GB of RAM. It’s powered by a 1GHz dual-core Cortex processor and features a 1500mAh battery which gives it up to 14 hours of 2G talk time or 7 hours of 3G talk time.
Available in Marble White or Pebble Blue, the Galaxy S3 Mini has a rear 5-megapixel camera complete with auto focus, an LED flash and 720p video recording. On the front, the VGA camera is ideal for Skype and video chats.
