Samsung’s Galaxy Mega 6.3 is one of the latest so called ‘Phablets’ – a phone/tablet hybrid which means everything you need is contained in this one hand held device.
Even with its whopping 6.3-inch screen, the Galaxy Mega is smaller in size than the mini tablets currently available but its ideal for browsing and gaming and, of course, making phone calls.
As well as the large screen, which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 and 233 pixels per inch, the Galaxy Mega sports a slim line design – it’s just 8mm thick and weighs 199 grams so despite its size, it’s very portable. The HD screen is perfect for watching films and looking at photos and you can use the split view and multi window ‘Dual View’ features if you need to do several things at the same time. Many users will find the touchscreen keyboard a lot easier to use than on smaller models as you do not have to contend with fiddly small characters. Similar to the S4, the sensitive touchscreen has Air View so you can hover your finger over the screen and reveal what’s under the icons without having touch them. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage which can be increased up to 64GB with a microSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy Mega operates on the latest version of Android Jelly Bean (4.2.2) and runs on a Snapdragon 400 dual-core 1.7GHz processor which means it runs pretty speedily. It also has a powerful 3200mAh battery which should keep it powered all day.
The main rear camera is 8-megapixels and features auto focus, a power LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection and a panorama option. The front facing camera is 1.9-megapixels and can be used for video chat.
