If you are a fan of Microsoft and the flexibility offered by Windows operating system, you’ll definitely be interested in the latest smartphone from them – the Lumia 950 XL. Even if you aren’t, this smartphone might make you a convert! Here’s our review of the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL.
Phablet?
Running the latest OS – Windows 10 – the 950XL features a large and sharp 5.7 inch display. You definitely need both hands to use this phone, which has a neat, matte, polycarbonate body that is comfortable to touch.
With 32GB internal memory, the phone also has a slot for MicroSD cards so you can increase storage.
Windows 10 OS
The Lumia 950 XL is powered by an octa-core 1.5 GHz processor, which is great for performance. And it has Windows 10 on it – the secret ingredient that makes the 950 XL hot merchandise.
Windows 10 smartphones have a dedicated following – not just is it more convenient for business users to sync all their documents, spreadsheets and continue working on the same apps as they do at office but it’s also now got Continuum and Cortana to make it fun.
An Upgraded Camera
The primary camera has been upgraded and is now retrofitted with a six element lens. It continues to have a dedicated camera button, like most Windows phones.
It’s a 20 megapixel with Carl Zeiss optics lenses and what is now pretty standard – optical image stabilization and autofocus. With the Nokia PureView technology, the camera has amazing image quality using “super-pixels” and also filters all the “noise” from an image – so even with poor lighting, you will not get grainy photos.
The front-facing camera is a respectable 5 mega pixel.
Battery & RAM
What really impresses us are the battery and the RAM. The Lumia 950 XL boasts a 3340 mAh Li-Ion battery, which the manufacturer claims, will last for 19 hours of talk time. The 3G of RAM is also enticing – more multi-tasking, less lag – who wouldn’t like that?
