Of course, it’s the flagship phones that people get all excited about and as soon as the latest one is released, the rumour mill starts about the new version. This week has seen gossip galore on the Microsoft’s (nee Nokia) Lumia 940, Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9, so we thought we’d share it with you.
The 940 is expected to be the next flagship smartphone for the newly branded Microsoft Lumia series. If the rumours are correct then the Lumia 940 could be sporting a 5-inch display topped off with a Gorilla Glass 4 protective screen and we could see a new Windows Phone 10 operating system from Microsoft. The Lumia 940 is thought to come with an impressive new 24-megapixel PureView camera on the rear and a front-facing 5-megapixel snapper. On the inside there’s a very decent Snapdragon 805 2.7GHz processor, 3GB of RAM and a minimum of 32GB of built-in storage. We could expect to see the Lumia 940 in the Spring of 2015 possibly.
Next up we have the Samsung Galaxy S6. There’s speculation that the S6 could boast a premium looking metallic frame and a 2560 x 1440 QHD Super AMOLED display possibly around 5.2-inches in size. It’s thought that the Galaxy S6 could feature a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera, Samsung’s heart rate monitor, a fingerprint scanner and possibly a UV sensor like the Galaxy Note 4. Power-wise we could see one of the new and powerful Snapdragon processors such as the 808 or 810 alongside 3GB of RAM. There are even some rumours which claim that the Galaxy S6 could feature a dual-edged screen which could mean a curved edge screen on both sides of the handset! The Galaxy S6 will probably make its debut in March at next year’s Mobile World Congress.
Last but certainly not least is the HTC One M9 which is rumoured to launch in February 2015. Reports suggest that the premium M9 could come with some seriously impressive specs which include a 5.2-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution QHD display with 564 pixels per inch. The HTC One M9 could also feature a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop. In terms of onboard memory, we could see 2 models of the M9 with a choice of either 64 or 128GB of built-in storage. There is still some speculation on what camera the HTC One M9 could feature but it’s very likely to come with a higher megapixel rear-facing camera with an improved IP rating.
More as we hear it of course!
