BlackBerry have been hitting the headlines for all the right reasons over the couple of weeks and things are most certainly looking up for the Canadian mobile phone maker. As well as having a new CEO at the helm, John Chen, share prices are significantly up and they’ve also announced that they will be launching 2 brand new smartphones in 2014.
Both smartphones will run on the latest BlackBerry 10 operating system which includes some excellent features including BlackBerry PriorityHub, BBM and BlackBerry Browser. The great news for fans of BlackBerry who like their QWERTY keyboards is that the new BB Q20 handset will feature not only a BB classic QWERTY keyboard with sculpted keys but also the very popular trackpad and physical buttons for the Menu, Back, Send and End keys.
The BB Q20 will come with a 3.5-inch screen – which makes it the largest BlackBerry display with a QWERTY keyboard – a premium metal design and will also feature a larger and more powerful battery. The Q20 is likely to be available in the second half of this year.
As well as the top-end BB Q20, BlackBerry will also be bringing out a budget touchscreen smartphone, the BB Z3. It’s unsure if the BB Z3 will be available in the UK at the moment as it will be primarily sold in Asia and is due to be launched in Indonesia next month. The Z3 will come with a more contemporary design and will include a 5-inch screen and will be entirely touchscreen. The BB Z3 will also run on BlackBerry 10.2.1 operating system and will feature a 1.2GHz and a large battery.
