Launched in January 2013, the BlackBerry Z10 was the first BlackBerry handset to feature their brand new operating system, BlackBerry 10. The Z10 is a move away from the traditional keyboard style of handset which Blackberry has become renowned for.  Here’s the important stuff you need to know about the BlackBerry Z10.

Available in black and white, the classy-looking BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch touchscreen which boasts a resolution of 1280 x 786 with 356ppi. Perfectly sized to fit comfortably in your pocket, the design is business-like and sturdy, weighing in at 137grams whilst still retaining its slimness at just 9mm deep.

On the inside the BlackBerry Z10 is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and it comes with a decent 16GB of storage (which can be expanded up to 32GB) and 2GB of RAM. The 1,800mAh battery which provides up to 10 hours of talk time is fully removable so can always be swapped for a charged one if you like to carry a spare. The Z10 is 4G compatible and also features NFC which means you can easily share BBM contacts, documents, photos etc by simply tapping your BlackBerry against another NFC-enabled device.

The 8-megapixel rear camera is fairly standard with 1080p HD video recording and with some useful camera software including ‘best face’ where you can pick the best shot of individual people from a serious of continuously shot photos to make one very decent image. The Z10 camera has some fantastic built-in editing tools such as filters and special effects which are very simple and effective to use.

The Z10’s new BlackBerry 10 operating system is completely different to BlackBerry’s previous operating systems with navigation mainly gesture based rather than using actual buttons on the phone. There are some decent shortcut options so you can quickly access your notifications, alarm, wifi access etc. The touchscreen keyboard is also very clear and easy to use with good autocorrect and predictive text.

There are some superb pre-loaded apps which include BlackBerry Balance so you can keep your work and social life on separate profiles, the new BBM which now has video-chat, BlackBerry Hub which centralises all of your messages, emails and social media and Screen Share so you can quickly and easily share documents, contacts and apps with friends or colleagues.
