Whether you’re fitness or weight loss goals are on track for 2014 or if you’re keen to get back on the wagon, we take a look at 5 of our favourite keep fit and weight loss apps to keep you on your toes.

The Belly App (iOS £1.83)

If you fancy something a little bit different, this app is worth a look. Perfect to work and tone your core muscles, The Belly App is a collection of videos on the art of belly dancing. With over 40 videos to choose from you can keep fit whilst learning some ancient belly dances. It’s not just for your core as belly dancing also gives your arms, hips, chest and legs a decent workout too.

The Complete 5:2 Diet (iOS, Android £1.99)

One of the latest diet trends around and one which has been getting good results is the 5:2 diet. The idea behind the diet is that for 2 days a week your calorie intake is limited to around 500 calories per day and for the other 5 days you eat a healthy but normal calorie diet. This great app gives you a  4 week recipe plan as well as exercises to get you back into shape. There are lots of lovely recipes to choose which makes calorie counting so much easier and it also tracks what you’re eating and what exercise you’re doing.

Zombies Run! (iOS, Android £2.99)

If you need a bit of extra motivation when you’re out for a run or just to get out of the house in the first place, this app combines fun and fitness in one. Zombies Run challenge you to various missions which means you have to get outside and collect supplies for your base. The Zombies are after your food stores and are chasing you, they like to remind you when they’re getting close by which will  make you run faster so they can’t keep up. There are zombie stories with audio and radio messages interspersed with your playlist to keep you entertained and working harder.

Noom Weight Loss Coach (iOS, Android – free)

Noom is similar to the many calorie tracking apps available but it also has some great extra features. As well as logging calories, workouts and your weight, Noom also includes a pedometer to keep tabs on how many steps you take each day as well as daily articles on health and fitness to keep your motivated. The app can help you to set goals to work towards to achieve your weight-loss and fitness targets.

SleepBot (iOS, Android – free)

It’s hardly a surprise that most of us are surviving on less sleep than we actually need. With demands on our time and our work accessible through phones and laptops 24 hours a day it can be hard to switch off and get some shut-eye. SleepBot can track how long you sleep for, how much you move around when asleep and how often your sleep is interrupted. You can essentially customise your sleeping habits so you can get a better night’s sleep and wake up feeling refreshed which can hugely help your health and wellbeing.
