A couple of weeks ago, we wrote about two new phones from Samsung in the S5 range, the Galaxy S5 Mini and the S5 Zoom. This week there’s speculation that we could be about to see 2 additional Galaxy S5 phones which are thought to be called the S5 Prime and the S5 Neo. Here’s the lowdown on the anticipated new S5 smartphones which could be making their debut soon.
The original Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone was launched in February and aimed at the top end of the mobile phone market. However there have been several reports this week which suggest that Samsung will be unveiling a premium version of the already premium S5 handset. It’s rumoured that the S5 Prime could be with us as soon as June and it may feature a metal design and an impressive 2560 x 1440 display. As Apple are expected to launch a completely new redesign and improved features for the iPhone 6, it seems sensible for Samsung to launch a super premium handset to maintain their share of the smartphone market.
Details of the Samsung S5 Prime handset are still fairly sketchy but it’s thought that it could feature a 5.2-inch QHD display, a 16-megapixel camera and 32GB of onboard storage. It’s rumoured to be powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 processor and will come with 3GB of RAM.
As well as an ultra premium new handset, there’s speculation that Samsung will also be releasing a mid-range version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 called the S5 Neo. The Neo tag is used by Samsung for their mid-range models of their various devices. It’s thought that the S5 Neo, like the original S5, will come with a 5.1-inch, 720p display. It’s rumoured to have a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and it’s fairly likely that it will feature smaller RAM and storage than the S5 itself.
