If you watch WWE in the UK, you’re going to need BT Sport from 2020.

For nearly 30 years, WWE (or WWF as it used to be known by, until the pandas complained) has been part of the Sky TV channel line-up in the UK. From the WWE weekend highlight shows on Sky One, to the large pay-per-view events such as Wrestlemania and Summer Slam, it was one of the first programmes to air on Sky back in the late 80’s. That’s all set to change next year though as the wrestling series’ big events are moving from Sky to BT Sport from January 2020.

It’s a multi-year contract, which will also see BT Sport help promote WWE across the UK via social media, new content and other marketing plans yet to be unveiled. We expect their mobile network EE will also play a part in this, given how well the BT Sport app has performed for sports viewing on the move.

WWE on BT Sport from January 2020

In terms of programmes, WWE Raw and Smackdown will air on BT Sport every week and will be repeated on Tuesdays (Raw) and Saturdays (Smackdown).

BT have also announced they’ll have a two-hour version of Raw, a one-hour version and a one-hour version of Smackdown on it’s channels.

Stefan Kastenmüller from WWE announced it as “an exciting new chapter” for the organisation.

BT’s Managing Director of Content and Strategy, Andy Haworth said: “We are incredibly excited by our new partnership with WWE. It is the most successful sports entertainment brand in the world, with a rich, fun and colourful history, loved by fans across the UK and Ireland.

“This is a brilliant addition for our customers and we can’t wait to get going in January.”

Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins

For the big pay-per-view events such as Wrestlemania, you’ll find them on BT Sport Box Office.

The addition of WWE to BT Sport adds to their current sporting line-up of the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Gallagher Premiership rugby, Moto GP and UFC.
