apple-iphone-5c-540x334This week Apple launched a brand new and cheaper version of the budget iPhone 5c. Initially available in the UK and a handful of other European countries, the new 5c is likely to be rolled out to more countries around the globe in the future. Here’s the lowdown on the iPhone 5c.

The main difference between the new iPhone 5c and the original handset is that the new 5c comes with 8GB of internal memory compared with options of 16GB or 32GB of storage on the original 5c smartphones. Aimed at mobile phone users who are looking for an excellent value iPhone, the rest of the specs for the new iPhone 5c are the same.

The iPhone 5c comes in 5 fun and colourful designs which include blue, pink, green, yellow and white. It’s comparable in size to the iPhone 5s except for its depth which is slightly bigger at 8.97mm. It weighs 132 grams which makes it lighter than the iPhone 4s and is 4G compatible.

The 4-inch backlit LCD screen has a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels which gives a pixel density of 326ppi. The main 8-megapixel rear facing camera comes with autofocus, an LED flash, touch focus and HDR photo and panorama. You can record video on the 5c at 1080p and 30 frames per second and includes video stabilisation. The front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera is ideal for Face Time and videoing in 720p.

The iPhone 5c is compatible with the latest Apple operating system iOS7.1 and comes with an Apple A6 chip and is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core processor. The 1510mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of talktime, 10 hours of internet use and an impressive 250 hours on standby.

In terms of apps and software, the 5c includes all of the popular iPhone features such as Siri, Twitter, Facebook, Apple Maps, AirDrop file sharing and iCloud storage.

We’ll let you know as soon as the iPhone 5c 8GB becomes available at DirectMobiles.
