The 2014 MWC (Mobile World Congress) will be held in just a few days time and many of the big names in the mobile phone world are expected to showcase their latest new products.
Samsung have already sent out their invitations to their ‘Unpacked 5’ event so we can’t see it referring to anything else than the grand launch of their much anticipated Galaxy S5 smartphone. The exact specs of course have yet to be revealed but we’re likely to see a super-fast and powerful handset with a 5.25-inch 2k resolution screen, a 16 megapixel camera, the latest Snapdragon 2.5GHz processor and 3GB of RAM. It’s anticipated that Samsung will also choose MWC to unveil their newest second-generation smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, and possibly a compact Galaxy Note handset, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
MWC is rumoured to be the event where Sony will launch their new high-end mobile phone, the Xperia Z2. The Z2 will be Sony’s new flagship smartphone and follows hot on the heels of the Xperia Z1 Compact which was released in January of this year. We could also see Sony unveil a new tablet or two as it’s thought that Sony are keen to bring out a new version of the Xperia Tablet Z.
There have been reports that Nokia will launch a selection of smartphones at this year’s MWC. First up is the Nokia Lumia 1820, Nokia’s latest flagship smartphone which is expected to also boast a 2k resolution (1440 x 2560) 5.2-inch Full HD screen. Nokia may also be about to unveil a compact model of the Nokia Lumia 1520 which is thought to be known as the Lumia 1520V and there are rumours that they have a new phablet to demo, the 6-inch Lumia 525.
Not to be outdone by Samsung, Korean electronics specialists LG could also unveil a handful of new devices. Like Samsung, LG have been working on a new smartwatch known as the LG G Arch and rumour has it an LG G2 Mini mobile phone may be making its debut very soon too.
HTC also have a new flagship smartphone up their sleeves, the HTC One Two which unsurprisingly is their successor to the extremely popular HTC One. We could see the HTC One Two launched at MWC and it’s expected to come with a 5-inch screen and a Snapdragon quad-core CPU.
We don’t have long before all these exciting rumours are confirmed (or not!) We’ll bring you all the latest news from MWC as we get it.
