Just behind EE and Vodafone, Three are the latest network to announce they will be switching on their 5G network in the UK in 2019.
The network will kick-off their 5G rollout with the launch of a new 5G home broadband service in London. This will then be followed by further mobile and home broadband coverage across 25 cities and towns across the UK before the end of the year.
Three have invested substantially in their network to get it ready for 5G, supported by Nokia who are providing some of the network’s infrastructure. This is good news for Three customers, given that they are particularly data-hungry, already using 3.5x more data per month compared to EE, O2 and Vodafone users.
The new 5G home broadband service will include a ‘plug-and-play’ hub that can be connected at home without a landline.
Dave Dyson, head honcho at Three, said: “It’s clear that consumers and businesses want more and more data. We have the UK’s best network for data and we have led the market on customer usage on both 3G and 4G technologies. We have worked hard over a long period of time to be able to offer the best end to end 5G experience.”
The network has confirmed that price plan details and 5G phones available at launch will be confirmed in July.
