After starring in Marvel films for the past 11 years, Downey Jr. announced at Amazon’s re:Mars conference on Tuesday night that he’ll spend the next 11 years working with a new environmental venture called the Footprint Coalition.

“Between robotics and nanotechnology, we could clean up the planet significantly, if not totally, in 10 years,” Downey Jr. said, relaying that he had been given these insights a few weeks back by a roundtable of experts. “God I love experts. They’re like Wikipedia with character defects,

In his presentation Downey said that, like many others, he has a “quiet sense of crisis” regarding the earth.

The actor didn’t give any further specific details on how the project will achieve it’s goal but it will be using cutting-edge technology to help clean the planet and address climate change.
