Plusnet is known for it’s value broadband service but a few years back it launched a mobile SIM only service too. This service will be closing down over the next few months as BT continues to consolidate its mobile services under the EE brand.
When the service ends, Plusnet Mobile customers will no longer be able to make or receive calls or send and receive texts so will need to switch to another mobile provider.
Existing customers are being offered an £8 a month SIM deal on EE, or they can choose to leave and join another network provider. If they choose to leave, they won’t be charged an early cancellation fee.
If customers don’t switch before Plusnet Mobile is turned off, they risk losing their current phone number. The exact date the service is being shut down hasn’t yet been confirmed, with Plusnet stating it will be closed in the “coming months”.
Catherine Hiley, mobiles expert at Uswitch said “When Plusnet Mobile’s consolidation into EE is complete, current Plusnet SIM customers will no longer be able to make calls, send texts or access the internet – they’ll need to switch to an alternative provider. They have two options; either going with a deal offered by EE, or comparing other deals available.”
For customers that want to switch networks, they can keep their existing number by texting PAC to 65075. This text-message based service is the quickest and easiest way to get a PAC code which can be given to your new mobile provider, allowing you to keep your existing number.
