Great news for fans of Galaxy Active smartphones as it looks like a new Samsung Galaxy S6 Active handset could be with us soon. There have been a series of leaks over the last couple of weeks concerning the S6 Active and it’s been 12 months since Samsung launched their S5 Active smartphone so we’re hoping an announcement will be fairly imminent. Here’s what we know about the S6 Active to date.
Samsung’s Galaxy Active smartphones have proved to be popular with customers who want a high-end mobile phone which can withstand an active and outdoor lifestyle without having to compromise on the specs you expect from a premium handset. Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, unlike its predecessors, is not water or dust resistant due to its change of design from a plastic frame to one made from glass and metal. So if you prefer your mobile phone to have extra protection from the elements it’s certainly worth considering the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active.
The S6 Active is expected to boast a display similar to the original Galaxy S6 which will be a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED QHD screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. It’s anticipated that many of the features of the Galaxy S6 will be mirrored in the S6 Active such as the 16-megapixel rear camera, the 5-megapixel front-facing camera and the Exynos 7420 processor as well as 3GB of RAM. Looks-wise, the online leaked images show an essentially similar design, however the S6 Active appears to have physical buttons running along the bottom of the front of the handset, rear speakers and a plastic build with extra protection at the corners.
