Motorola have just released a collection of new smartphones including a 3rd generation edition of the Moto G and a couple of premium Moto X variants namely the Moto X Play and Moto X Style. Let’s take a look at these exciting new additions to their smartphone collection.
MOTO G: Now Water Resistant
First up is the latest version of the budget Moto G smartphone. The Moto G is one of Motorola’s most popular and best selling handsets.
The new Moto G has been redesigned with a more curvy shape and can be customized with a great choice of colour combinations for the different parts of the phone such as the back cover, trim and phone face. Built with a plastic polycarbonate frame, the 3rd generation Moto G is robust and water resistant (IP67 certified) in water up to 1 metre deep.
Motorola have kept the display the same size at 5 inches with a 720p HD resolution screen which gives it a decent but not world beating 294 pixels per inch. Both of the cameras have been improved with a 13-megapixel snapper on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera on the front.
The new Moto G runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 with a Snapdragon 410 processor and a minimum of 1GB of RAM. There’s the option of 8GB or 16GB of expandable onboard storage which can be increased to a maximum of 32GB with a MicroSD card. The battery is excellent at 2470mAh and will easily provide enough power for a day of use.
Moto X Play & Moto X Style
Both the Moto X Play and Moto X Style are premium versions of Motorola’s flagship Moto X smartphone. The Moto X Play resembles the original Moto X in design and it boasts a lightweight metal frame, slim bezels and speakers located at the top and bottom of the screen. The X Play comes with a beautiful 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD screen with top notch sharpness and clarity. On the rear is a whopping 21-megapixel camera complete with a dual-LED flash and on the front is a good quality 5-megapixel lens.
The Moto X Play is powered by a Snapdragon octacore 615 processor – which delivers top notch processing speed alongside efficient battery usage – alongside 2GB of RAM and an impressive 3630mAh battery which offers 8 hours of use with just a 15 minute charge using the turbo charging feature. Storage-wise, the X Play comes with either 16 or 32GB of onboard memory which can be expanded up to 128GB thanks to the MicroSD slot.
Next up is the Moto X Style which is on another level again thanks to top-end specs and a larger display. The X Style also features a curvy design and can be customised with your own combination of colours using the Moto Maker. Available in a leather and wood version as well as the polycarbonate frame, the Moto X Style features a very impressive 5.7-inch Quad HD 1440 x 2560 display which gives it a fantastic resolution of 520 pixels per inch. Similar to the X Play, the X Style has a 21-megapixel rear camera with 4K or Full HD recording capabilities and there’s a great 5-megapixel camera on the front with a wide-angle lens for capturing those selfies.
On the inside, there’s a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and a good-sized battery which can also be rapidly charged with turbo charging. Motorola again offers expandable storage with the X Style and there’s the choice of 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage.
The good news is that we already have the 3rd generation Moto G in stock. You can buy it here.
